I was first introduced to Bobbi Humphrey in the 70's in Baltimore. I went to visit a friend and she was playing her music. I still have the 8 track (can't remember the name of the album) but I remember the music and have all these years. It was probably her first album. Please help me remember some of her earlier works.

Thank you,

Joseph B. Brooks

December 17, 2009

Ms. Humphrey, I have loved you music since I first heard you in the 70's while serving overseas in Vietnam. I have a young nephew, who lives in Honoloulou, HI, who plays the flute in school. I told him about you and will be sending him a CD "The Best of Bobbi Humphrey" because I want him to hear and know about you, your talents and accomplishments. Stay strong Lady and keep playing sweet music.

Peace and blessings Bobbi,

Listening to your sounds coming through the flute inspired and confirmed my inner desire to play the flute. It's much more beautiful then what people would say, i love your flavor and resonate expressions in your music. Keep it up, hope someday i can hear you live or meet you in person.

God bless,

Wow! I remember seeing you at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA around 1975 or '76. YOU WERE AWESOME standing there in a tee shirt and jeans blowing away that flute which seemed almost as long as you were tall. I am going to see what I find in your CD's and hopefully I will come across my favorite, Satin Doll, which is also my favorite song by you. Thanks for your great music!!! ~Peace~

Hi It was great going down memory lane!! I haven't played your music for a long while (it's on a LP) Recently a good friend's daughter gave me a cd of her playing a flute and it took me back to Satin Doll. I began wondering where you were and if you still pursued your passion. I'm glad to see you are. I will be checking your site regularly to see when you are going to be close to the Columbia SC area. Thanks for all the beautiful music and memories!!! MGRankin

Today is my birthday. While thinking of great moments in my life music surfaces. I have loved your music since the 70s. Your version of "You Are The Sunshine of My Life" was the tape played at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth, Texas when I marched down the aisle to the Rose Garden Fountain many years ago.

Back in 1973, I bought Donald Byrd's "Black Byrd" & the production of the Mizell Brothers blew me away. Love So Far Away is my favorite track on that LP. I begin to search on more of their production work and came across your name/album, "Blacks & Blues" in 1973 and I still have those LPs to this very day. "Chicago Damn" & "Harlem River Drive" are my jointz as well as "NY Times"...."Jealousy" & other true tunes. You are a LEGEND!! Love your ART!! PEACE.

I am sitting here in tears listening to Sunset Burgandy and remembering the first time i heard this song as a child...with my father, whom has passed and gave me the passion for music, thinking then saying proudly "I want to be her!" You inspired me to learn music, love singing, play in the school band for 15 years and with every note...bring me closer to my father. My love for your music and appreciation of your talent continues to be a blessing to me...the strength that bonds me to him eternally! THANK YOU, BOBBI!!!!
